Frequently Asked Questions

Your most-asked questions, answered.

What is the Pre-Vet Club? What do you do?

Our club is for students planning on studying veterinary medicine. Members have a chance to meet others interested in the same career path as well as exposing themselves to veterinary medicine during their undergraduate degree. We hold general meetings every other week, and host a variety of activities and volunteer events for the animals in our community!

How do I join?

To join the club, make sure you pay dues and sign up for our emails! For the year, dues will typically be $20. If you want to pay by semester, dues are typically $15. Any UF of Sante Fe student can join the club at any time. If you want to become an active member, you have to attend 3 general body meeting events, a combined 3 events of 1-2 social events and 1-2 service events, and a diversity and wellness event. You do not need to be an active member to attend meetings or events though!

How can I receive emails from the club?

How do I prove I went to a service/volunteer event?

Typically, events will be scheduled through Signup Genius. Once you have signed up and attended an event, you will need to send a picture of proof to our club Service Chair (Emily) at ufpvmcservicedirector@gmail.com. She will record your volunteer point and you will be one step closer to becoming an active member!

How can I make suggestions and give comments regarding the club (activities, communication, speakers, and social media)?

We love feedback! Click on the feedback tab in the header to leave anonymous suggestions and comments. Always feel free to contact executive board members through email or at the meetings!

How can I be an officer?

Towards the end of the school year, we will hold officer elections during a general meeting. Members who have been active for a year can run. To run for Vice President or President, you must have been on the executive board the previous year. Our elections have a "run-off" style, meaning if you are not voted into your first-choice position, you can run for any position below it.

I have questions about my four-year plan, coursework, VMCAS, and preparing for vet school. Can you help?

If you have any general questions or advice about certain classes, workload, or veterinary opportunities, feel free to post on our Facebook page. Check out our resources tab for more general information too!

I'm a high school student. What should I do?

Hey there, early bird! The UF College of Veterinary Medicine has made a lovely handout for you to read, as well as a video with tips to prepare for your vet school.
